What's a FENCE-A-THON?

Fence-A-Thon is an annual fun-and-fundraising event to benefit CFC and The Sisters Academy of Baltimore. Realize we're not talking a tournament here. This is a fencing marathon! Like a benefit walk, we need you to get your family, friends, co-workers, enemies, people on prison work-release, whomever, to sponsor you -- $1 a bout, $2, $5, whatever people are willing to give. The more bouts you fence, the more money you raise! (Lump sum donations also accepted. Please make checks payable to the Chesapeake Fencing Club).

Trophies are awarded for most bouts fenced and most bouts directed. All bouts must be fenced according to USFA rules, just like a tournament.

If youíd rather not fence, but would like to direct, same rules apply. People will sponsor you for the number of bouts you direct. Of course, whether youíre fencing or directing, the more sponsors you find, the more bucks come in to CFC and The Sisters Academy of Baltimore! (The Sisters Academy of Baltimore is a Catholic community-centered middle school located in southwest Baltimore City for girls in grades 5-8).

FENCE-A-THON 2007 was held Friday, October 19th and we fenced all night with around 60 fencers registered. (Click here to see the results) Another rousing success. T-shirts and other items are still available. Call or email Ray Gordon for details. The dates for Fence-A-Thon 9 have not been set yet but it is traditionally held the third weekend in October. Check back here for dates, times and venue information for 2008.

If you have questions about this event, please call Ray Gordon at 410-532-7445 or Dan Collins at 410-332-9714. Come be a part of history; others may try and imitate us, but ours is the FIRST FENCEATHON! We look forward to seeing you at the FENCE-A-THON 2008!
